  • You MUST be off any kind of Accutane for 1 year prior.

  • NO Lattisse on brows for at least 4 weeks prior.

  • You must wait at least 4 weeks after last Botox injection

  • If you are a lip blush client and you have ever had a cold sore outbreak (even if your last one was years ago), you MUST be on an antiviral medication (acyclovir, sitavig, zovirax) for at least 5 days prior to your appointment and at least 2 days after. Lip blush treatments can potentially cause outbreaks. Contact your doctor about obtaining a prescription, or you can purchase Lysine from the drug store and follow the same instructions.

Does it hurt?

While everyone’s pain tolerance varies, I use a local numbing anesthetic containing lidocaine and epinephrine at the beginning of the procedure and again several times throughout for maximum comfort. Most people describe minimal discomfort and equate the feeling to a sunburn or rug burn. Irritation may increase in the hours following the appointment as numbing wears off.

How long does it take to heal?

The healing process takes approximately 4-6 weeks to complete. Minor swelling and irritation is completely normal. Color will appear darker and brows will appear thicker for the first 2-5 days, then pigment will begin to lightly flake off. Pigment may fade and appear lighter during the next couple weeks, it should reappear as the healing process progresses. Please wait until scabs flake off completely before applying makeup on your brows. Allow 4 weeks before returning to heavy duty skincare (AHAs, retinol, Vitamin C serum), Botox, facials. See below for a more detailed walkthrough of the healing process.

How do I heal my new ombre brows?

Day 1: Upon leaving the studio, your brows will begin their healing process. Expect the color of your brows to appear most vibrant and bold this day and remember- we are aiming for the color your brows will heal to, not how they look walking out the door. Before bed, wash brows with a gentle cleanser and apply a thin layer (a rice grain sized amount) of A&D ointment. Use clean hands and pat dry with a paper towel, no cloth towels.

Day 2-5: Brows may appear darker and thicker than the day of the appointment. This is completely normal! The pigment has oxidized and a small scab is beginning to form. During this time, brows may appear to be uneven on your face. This is due to the numbing agent completely wearing off and your skin experiencing swelling. Avoid heavy workouts with lots of sweating during this time, light exercise is fine. No makeup on or in your brows, this may result in infection. Keep washing your brow and applying ointment every morning and every night.

Day 6-10: Brow will begin to slowly flake off. DO NOT PICK AT YOUR BROWS! Let them flake off on their own, any picking can result in scar tissue and a more patchy heal. Wash and apply ointment until scabs are gone. Do not apply any makeup to your brows until the scabs have completely flaked off.

Day 10-20: Brow may experience a “disappearing phase” where they look very light or like there is no pigment left at all. A new layer of skin is forming over a wound, give it time to heal and color will bloom back to the surface with time.

Day 30: A full cycle for new skin growth is 30 days. At this point, you can consider your brows pretty much fully healed. Touchups can be schedule 6-8 weeks out from initial session to perfect color, shape, and saturation.
